A Path Together

Combining financial lives

I Got My Motivation (and my mojo)

This past weekend the weather in San Francisco was beautiful, no matter if you are an elitist or not.  Sonia and I spent the day at Golden Gate Park with some books, snacks and water.  It was a relaxing day and I promised myself that I would not break the mood by bringing up money at all.  The fact is, I have been a little obsessed about the topic lately so I thought I would give her a break.

Sonia brought the subject up.  She mentioned how she appreciates that I have been working so hard on our financial future; the issue does not seem so daunting to her anymore.  Sonia told me she is not afraid to learn about investing and savings now, whereas before even just thinking about money was stressful.  Mostly, she’s just happy I am trying to ensure our family will be secure in the years to come.  Hearing her say that made my day, and really got me motivated to save even more for our future.

I thanked her for letting me talk endlessly about budgeting, bills, investing and any other money-related concern that pops into my head.  I know it can be a lot to handle at times and she is a great sport about it.

While I do a lot of talking on the subject, Sonia quietly leads a frugal life.  The woman hardly spends any money.  She doesn’t make a big deal about it, doesn’t feel the need to post in a blog (and then talk about the posting), she just earns, saves and repeats.

That’s something to think about - and talk about.

I’ve felt the same way on numerous occasions. Wes was a bit overwhelmed with my constant focus on the finances early on in the blogging process. When he started seeing a difference in our daily lives because of it, and he started reading my blog, he really got on board. I won’t say he ENJOYS it the way I do, but he’s been incredibly supportive. It makes a big difference. I’m glad your love is supportive and works with you to attain your family’s financial goals.
