Don’t use me as an excuse!

I couldn’t wait to get my wife a new computer. Right now she has an older Dell (well, three and a half years - not too old). I added some memory but it’s still sluggish. Windows takes forever to load, and between spyware and virus alerts, just trying to read to news online takes forever. I was looking into a Mac Mini or iMac. Maybe even a refurbished one to save money.
A mini would be good since we have a keyboard and mouse, and they are less expensive than the iMac. After all, why spend more than we need to? We can get something cheap, it will be a lot faster, take up a lot less space and use a great new operating system. A pretty good idea and I would be doing it all for my wife. Wow, I really am a stand-up guy!
I approached S and ask her what she thinks of Macs. Her response was, “I’m perfectly happy with my computer. You don’t need to buy anything for me.”
“Really? Are you sure? Isn’t it slow?” I ask.
“If you want to buy yourself a new computer, get whatever you want. I’m fine with what I have. Don’t use me as an excuse to buy a computer.” she says knowingly.
Now I can’t get myself a new computer. I don’t have my “excuse”.
What was the last gift you bought for someone else that was really for you?

02|Apr|2008How do you like the iMac? I think we will be getting one in a few months - at least I hope so!

03|Apr|2008It’s great - the display is fantastic, so much better than my old lcd screen. I wish I had brought more ram though - I’ve got 2gb and I think I need more. I’m a photography student processing large raw files, maybe you can never have enough ram :0)

03|Apr|2008You can look up this site (http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#iMac), even tho its been saying that for a while now, new Imacs should be coming up anytime soon now.
Those are based on rumors only, but it’s still fun to read. I’m planning on getting one myself, i’m just waiting for the new ones to come out.

03|Apr|2008Hi Francis,
I saw that. I have been checking the Apple store every Tuesday to see if the new Penryn chips are being used. I don’t know that I would even notice a difference (I’m not a ‘power user’) but I may as well wait and get the newer release.
Thanks for visiting the site and leaving a comment!

12|Apr|2008I read somewhere once that there is a difference between a present and a gift. A present is something you buy for someone else that you really want. A gift is buying something for someone that you know they want. Or it could be the other way around. Point is, we are all guilty. Good point!
